Another new feature of this 2015 will be Workshop articles, where I'll be exposing small tutorials related with different aspects of the hobby. In the first article I'm going to describe how to build our own magnet movement trays (and cheapest!)

First of all, here is a description of the materials and what can we obtain from them:

1) Plastic convers. These are from Ikea (2€) and you can use it several times(as it is seen in the picture). This material provides us the base where we're going to build the set.

2) Soda cans (almost free). This is the cheaper version of a metalic plate. I recommend you to use the highest one's because of its big surface. Be careful! It's not possible to use trademarks as Nestea, Aquarius or similar (the metallic surface is thinner and don't magnetize as much as we need). No problems with Coke cans. Very important!!! Drink the liquid inside the can before starting to cut it!! ;p This material provides us the metallic surface that we're going to attach above the plastic base.

3) Matrix remains (free...virtually). Who doesn't have freakingamounts of old plastic matrix at home! This provides us the edges of our movement tray that we'll glue on to the outside parts of the tray. I propose you two ways to glue them:
3.1.  At the outside part of the tray in order to get the final shape.
3.2.  At the outside part of the tray but leaving a small gap to full with putty. If you see the image, that's the option I've choiced (but you could also choose 3.1. if you want to save time).
Another fact that I've done is divide the tray in two parts (rows 1 and 2 - rows 3 and 4). By this way, it's not necessary to bring the full movement tray around the battlemap when the regiment is receiving damage (you just need to remove the back part).
As before, you could save time if you avoid this breeakup.

4) Fill out the edges of the tray with putty (I've used Das... which is very cheap!!!). In my case, I fill with putty in order to extend the area of the edge and give to it a less abrupt appearance (you may also smooth the edges of the matrix).

5) Add whatever sand you usually use. In my case I've used beach sand (free!) but it's also possible to use modelism sand (less cheaper!).

Once built, we continue with their painting using the following color scheme:

Basecoat: Beasty Brown
Shadows 1: Black (very, very diluted...you could also use Black Ink)
Lights 1: Earth (drybrush)
Lights 2: Bonewhite (drybrush)

We add a little bit of electrostatic grass and the result is as follow:

Y con algunas miniaturas encima:

And with some miniature above it:

Espero que os sea útil!!!

I hope this could be useful!!!

Galería Enano Maestro Artillero / Dwarf Master Gunner

With the new year, it also arrives some changes (positive changes!!) for the blog.
